19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces
A comeback the Russian player secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since March of the previous year.
Success also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.
His retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on court had led commentators to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an improved service.
Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.
Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
